The state of Georgia is located to the southeast of the United States and its capital is the city of Atlanta. Most of the state will experience humid subtropical climate. The summers are typically hot and very humid with the exception of some of the higher elevations. Most of the state will see heavy or moderate precipitation and there is a very important influence of the Atlantic Ocean on the Georgia weather. The influence of the ocean comes from both the east coast and the Gulf of Mexico. The hottest temperature ever recorded in the state was 112 Fahrenheit (44 Celsius) and it happened back in 1952 in Louisville. The lowest ever was -17 Fahrenheit (-27 Celsius) in 1940 to the north of Floyd County.
